PTFE SAMPLING BAG

Scentroid Is the only manufacturer offering PTFE air sampling bags. These sampling bags offer a much higher resistance to contamination and Scentroid PTFE Sampling Bag have a longer holding time than Tedlar bags. They are also accepted bag material for all standards. PTFE Sampling bags are extremely resistant to contamination and therefore can be easily cleaned and reused. PTFE sampling bags are already approved by the Ministry of Environment in Ontario and almost every other jurisdiction around the world.

Application

1.PTFE Recommended For Samples:

  • Where samples are processed with long delay. (12+ hours)
  • With high VOC and H2S.
  • With any petrochemical products such as benzene.
  • With low odour threshold (will not contaminate sample).
  • With high humidity.

2.PTFE Not Recommended For Samples:

  • Being processed with delay exceeding 30 hours.
Advantages
  • Ultra-pure PTFE film with exceptional sample preservation.
  • PTFE density of 2.2 g per cubic centimeter is twice as high as Tedlar allowing for much longer sample preservation.
  • Excellent stability for most compounds including VOCs, sulfur compounds, including hydrogen sulfide.
  • Excellent stability for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, and sulfur hexafluoride.
  • Excellent stability for petrochemical products such as benzene.
  • Low sample absorption.
  • Zero background odour allows for ambient sampling.
  • UV protection helps preserve samples during transportation.
  • Easy to clean and reuse (typical lifespan is 30 samples).

Tedlar Sampling Bag

Tedlar bags provides a storage median that can be reused.

Tedlar has been the standard in air sampling for more than 20 years. Tedlar bags provide a reusable storage medium with good retention for most substances. Scentroid Tedlar bags are made of  2 mill thick film and purged at 100 °C using Scentroid’s patented heat/vacuum SP20 Purger for ultimate purity. Each bag is pressure tested and leak tested to ensure perfect quality.

Application
  • Tedlar Recommended For Samples:

    • Processed with moderate delay. (6 to 12 hours)
    • With moderate to high VOC and H2S.

    Tedlar Not Recommended For Samples:

    • Being processed twelve or more hours after sampling.
    • With low contamination (due to high background chemical levels)
    • With Benzene and other petrochemicals.
Advantages
  • Dupont Tedlar film for good sample preservation.
  • Good stability for VOCs and some sulfur compounds, including hydrogen sulfide.
  • Good stability for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, and sulfur hexafluoride.
  • High bursting pressure to ensure samples are transported safely.
  • Pre-purged using Scentroid’s patented Heated Air Purger for minimal background contamination.
  • Choice of fittings to match bag size and application include both compression and -2in1- valve/septum fittings in a variety of materials including PTFE, stainless steel, PTFE coated Nylon, and Polypropylene.

Nalophan Bags

Nalophane is an inexpensive material used for making disposable sample bags.

Nalophan is an inexpensive material used for making disposable sample bags. Nalophan  can be purchased pre-made or as a large roll to reduce cost. Nalophan provides a cost effective solution but has the shortest holding time for most compounds such as H2S, Ammonia and VOCs.

Applications

Nalophan Recommended For Samples:

  • Processed without long delays (less than six hours for most samples)
  • With moderate VOC and H2S

Nalophan Not Recommended For Samples:

  • Being processed six or more hours after sampling.
  • With high humidity.
  • With high H2S.
  • With Benzene or other petrochemical

Stainless Steel Sampling Bag

Each stainless steel bag is made of electro-polished marine grade (316L series) stainless steel film. Stainless steel sampling bags are ideal for sampling corrosive materials such as high H2S or benzene. The stainless steel is rolled into a thin film that provides it with flexibility while maintaining the 100% sample preservation. Scentroid stainless Steel bags are used commonly instead of Sumo canisters.

  • Where GCMS analysis were purity is a must.
  • With ultra-high H2S content where sample preservation is critical.
  • With high concentration of petrochemical compounds.

SK5, N-BUTANOL SENSITIVITY KIT

The Scentroid SK5 Sensitivity Kit is designed to provide accurate N-butanol mixtures of 5 to 50 ppm from a liquid N-butanol source. The N-butanol mixture can then be used to screen panelists using the Scentroid SM100 or any other Scentroid olfactometer in accordance to the EN13725 standard. The mixture is accurate and repeatable thanks to the fixed volume evaporation chamber, micro-liter syringe, and pre-purged Tedlar bag.

Basics of Operation
  • Draw the required amount of liquid N-butanol according to the calibration chart
  • Inject the N-butanol into the evaporation chamber
  • Fill the evaporation chamber with odourless air from the SM100.
  • Close the valve and wait for 15 minutes.
  • Fill the 1L Tedlar bag.

SP20 – HEATED AIR PURGER

The Scentroid SP20 Heated Air Purger is a revolutionary device designed to provide an effective and reliable cleaning solutions for olfactometers, sample bags, PTFE lines, and other equipment which may be contaminated with odours.

Application
  • The SP20 provides hot air at up to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) to effectively clean stainless steel lines of any of our olfactometers. It can be connected directly to the sample line or to the compressed air line.
  • The hot air from the unit can also be used to regenerate carbon filters and silica gels in the odour/humidity filter built into the SM100, SC300, or the SS600.
  • The SP20 provides a unique function of cycling between injecting hot air and vacuuming to speed up purging of Tedlar and other reusable bags.
Basics of Operation

Mode 1: Continuous Hot Air Purging

This Mode is used to clean sample lines, PTFE tubes and to regenerate Carbon and Silica Gels Filters

  • Air Temperature is set on the unit by the operator.
  • The unit provides continuous hot air at the specified temperature as monitored by a built in thermocouple.

Mode 2: Cyclic Purging (Sample Bag purging)

This Mode is used to quickly clean reusable sample bags

  • Operator sets temperature and pressure as well as the cycle time in Seconds (1-30 Sec)
  • The unit injects hot air for the duration of the cycle filling the sample bag.
  • At the end of the injection cycle the unit switches to vacuum and completely draws the air from the same sample bag.
  • The cycle is continuously repeated creating a lung effect.

Benefits

Cyclic Purging significantly reduces the required purging time as the vacuum of the sample bags forcibly pulls odour causing molecules from the surface of the bag. Typical sample bag purging time of 1 hour using conventional hot air can be reduced to approximately 7 minutes using cyclic purging.

SP50 – Oxidisation Purger

The Scentroid SP50 Oxidisation Purger is a revolutionary device designed to provide an effective and reliable cleaning solutions for olfactometers, sample bags, PTFE lines, and other equipments which may be contaminated with odours.

Application
  • The SP50 provides a mixture of clean air with oxidisation gases such as ozone and hydroxyl to effectively decontaminate sampling Tedlar or Teflon Bags, sampling probes, or sampling lines.
  • The mixture is injected, with the desired concentration to allow high levels of decontamination either, remaining contaminants, bacteria or fungus.
  • The SP50 has been built with safety in mind, the purger has a built in-carbon filter that scrubbers and cleans the contaminated air coming from the equipment that is being cleaned such bags or probes, before it is released into the laboratory.
Basics of Operation

This mode is use when the user wants deeper cleaning of sampling bags or probes.

  • Ozone concentration is set on the unit by the operator.
  • The unit provides continuous mixture Ozone-clean air for better decontamination results.

  • Operator sets the ozone concentration levels.
  • The unit injects clean air in continuous mode and ozone when the user press the “Inject ozone” button.
